As a junior: Named to the All-ECAC Lacrosse Second Team … Earned All-ECAC Academic Team recognition … Compiled an 8.69 goals-against average and a .552 save percentage while starting 13 of 14 games for the Bobcats … Scooped up 50 ground balls on the season, good for second on the team … Earned ECAC and Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week after stopping 21 shots to give Quinnipiac its first-ever ECAC Lacrosse victory at Hobart on March 20 … Also named to the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll on four different occasions … Made 16 saves in defeat against nationally-ranked Loyola in the season opener on Feb. 27 … Made 12 saves in the Bobcats’ ECAC win over Bellarmine on April 24 … Stopped 11 shots in a win at Air Force on Apr. 9. As a sophomore: Started all 13 games in the goal for the Bobcats…Made 135 saves with a .549 save percentage and a 9.07 goals-against average…Tied a career-high with 17 saves against Brown…Made double-digit saves in eight games including 16 in a win against No. 19 Denver…Scooped up 32 groundballs; good for third on the team…Tallied an assist versus Bellarmine. As a freshman: Saw the majority of the action in net for the Bobcats, earning an 8-5 record in his first season at Quinnipiac … made 127 saves, compiled a .543 save percentage and 8.75 goals-against average … earned GWLL Player of the Week, April 29, after stopping 15 shots to defeat Bellarmine and help the Bobcats clinch a berth in the first-ever GWLL Tournament … made a season-high 17 saves, while allowing only one goal at Manhattan … made double-digits in saves in eight games, including the final six contests … was also active away from the net, picking up a team-leading 51 ground balls. Before Quinnipiac: A transfer from Butler University … a two-time All-City (Baltimore) Second Team selection at Mt. St. Joseph. Personal: The son of Moira and Don Benzing … born in Pittsfield, Mass. … older siblings, D.J. and Kelly, played collegiate lacrosse at Air Force and Drexel, respectively … father, Don, played lacrosse at the U.S. Naval Academy … also has a younger sibling, Tracey … a history major.
